2025 Julia Doren Memorial Scholarship

Background

The Julia Doren Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Friends of the Elko County Library (now the Friends of Mybrary) to honor her memory and commitment to the library. Julia worked in all areas of the library and had a special place in her heart for the Bookmobile. Julia was President of the Friends of the Library for several years and worked hard for library advocacy.

Amount

The amount of this scholarship is $500 awarded to one recipient pursuing higher education.

Eligibility Requirements 

  1. Any person who can show enrollment in a higher education course at a two- or four-year college, including online or correspondence courses.
  2. Must be a United States citizen and a resident of Elko, Eureka, or White Pine Counties.
  3. Applicant must submit a typed essay (no less than 500 words) on “The Use and Importance of Public Libraries.”
  4. Do not include any personally identifying information in the essay.
  5. Essays must be received no later than Friday, May 30, 2025. The successful applicant will be notified after June 6, 2025.
